Sarah Palin Is the Reagan Candidate

   Friday, October 3, 2008 10:31 AM
   By:
  Ronald Kessler

Sarah Palin won the debate with Joe Biden because she came across as the
  Ronald Reagan candidate.

Like Reagan, Palin projected pride in America, optimism about the future, and
determination to reform the government and vanquish our enemies.

Like Reagan, she was at times self-deprecating. Like Reagan, she took a swipe
at the mainstream media. And like Reagan, she made it clear she was not afraid
to take views contrary to conventional wisdom in Washington.

EXCLUSIVE

Body Language Expert: Palin Won the Debate Hands Down

(Los Angeles - October 3, 2008) – Body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass analyzed last night's VP debate ... and says Sarah Palin was the clear winner.

Here's why, according to Dr. Glass:

• When Palin first got to the stage, she blew a kiss, which is typically unprofessional and certainly unpresidential. But at the same time, it's endearing and refreshing. It's something we haven't seen before.

• She looked right into the camera, really connecting with her audience. Biden kept looking away, and referring to the host, which was disconnecting.

• Palin's folksy, and she knows it works ... so she's really playing it, milking it. It makes  her likable to many people.

• The only time Palin faltered is when she was talking about Israel, a heavy issue. But she got right back on her feet.

• Palin's smile and winks are coquettish and charming. People respond to them because it's refreshing. We've seen the smug curmudgeonly faces for so long, it's a nice change.

Debate Fact Check: Barack Obama Repeatedly Stretches The Truth
On Iran:
Obama said that "I was called naive when i suggested that we need to look at exploring contacts with Iran, and, you know what? President Bush recently sent a senior ambassador, B ill Burns, to participate in talks with the Europeans around the issue of nuclear weapons." This comment both overstates the case and does not accurately reflect Obama's position. Obama has said he would begin direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program without preconditions, a stance that has worried key European allies.  -- The Washington Post
On Energy: In addressing the issue of energy independence, Senator Barack Obama claimed during the debate tha t he was generally supportive of nuclear power, clean coal, and offshore drilling. However, statements made by himself and his running mate just in the past three months indicate otherwise.
In June, Barack Obama harshly criticized John McCain's plan to drill offshore. Here is what he told a Las Vegas audience about offshore drilling, "It doesn't make sense for America," Obama said. "In fact, it makes about as much sense as McCain's proposal to build 45 new nuclear reactors without a plan to store the waste some place other than right here at Yucca Mountain," the Illinois senator said.
On Taxes::
During Friday's presidential debate, Sen. Barack Obama provided a loose interpretation of his tax plan, saying that those making less than $250,000 a year "will not see one dime's worth of tax increase." It's not entirely true. Obama has called for higher taxes on income, capital gains and dividends for individuals making $200,000 per year; his tax plan imposes higher taxes on couples starting at $250,000 a year. -- ABC News

And just last week, Senator Joe Biden was caught telling a young woman that the United States should not build any new coal plants and that investing in clean coal technology was a bad idea.
