NFRW Membership Inquiries Increase Due to the Sarah Palin Selection
Women Want to Join the NFRW

No doubt, Republican women are excited about the GOP's first female vice presidential candidate. NFRW membership director Frederika ver Hulst reports a marked increase in membership inquiries from across the nation since the Palin announcement.

"American women are enthusiastic about supporting Palin, and they are turning to the NFRW to help them. It's a wonderful opportunity for our organization to do what it does best - to bring like-minded women together and to provide the resources and tools they need for their grassroots efforts."

Recruit these women today.  The NFRW Membership Committee is ready to help.  To find your NFRW Membership Committee Representative click here.

NFRW Membership Committee Tip Of The Month
You Are the Messenger

Do you have new housing developments in your town, city or rural area?  If your answer is yes, then we have a recruitment tip for you.  Print a flyer or an informational door hanger that tells the new homeowners in your area about your federated club.

Additionally, you could go to each house to introduce yourself, hand the flyer to the woman at the house and invite her to be your guest at the next club meeting.  If you are not comfortable doing this or just shy, simply leave the informational club door hanger on the door knob, similar to candidate door hangers used during elections.

The best case scenario is that you will have a new Republican friend and a new member for your club!  The worst case scenario is that you will irritate a Democrat!   However in doing so, you will show some Democrats that Republican women are serious about their cause.

The door hanger "Tip of the Month" was submitted by Valerie Virtue, Palm Springs RWF Newsletter Editor.  Palm Springs has many new housing developments and the club has used this tip to their benefit.

If you have a "Tip of the Month" that you would like to share with all of the NFRW, please email it to me at esr@dc.rr.com or mail to: Elise Richmond, 505 Camino Sur, Palm Springs, CA 92262.

Elise Richmond is on the membership committee and has been tasked to submit the NFRW Membership Tip of the Month.  "The membership of the National Federation of Republican Women is of the utmost importance to me.  This is the main reason that I, a member of the NFRW Membership Committee, chose to accept the task of submitting a "Membership Tip of the Month" to the NFRW Newsletter for publication," said Richmond.

NFRW Urges Oprah To Invite Sarah Palin To Be A Guest On Her Show
The Oprah Winfrey Show

The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) is not calling for an official boycott of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." However, the NFRW is extremely disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to boycott Gov. Sarah Palin, who has made history by becoming only the second woman to run for vice president on a major-party ticket and the first Republican woman to do so. We would urge Ms. Winfrey to change her position and to invite Gov. Palin to be a guest on her show this fall. Ultimately, Ms. Winfrey is free to determine the content of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," just as the women of America are free to determine whether or not to watch.

September is Literacy Month
Join In Next Month!

Each September, local Republican women's clubs have the opportunity to share their projects, ranging from book donations, tutoring and financial support of literacy programs, to special one-time events like themed parties with authors. Participating clubs will receive a certificate and will be included in a prize drawing, sponsored by the NFRW Literacy Committee.

Regents Enjoy Luncheon, Fashion Show at Macy's During RNC Convention
NFRW Raises $2500

NFRW Capitol Regents and Regents were treated to a successful luncheon and fashion show on Tuesday at Macy's in downtown Minneapolis. Organized by NFRW First Vice President, Sue Lynch of Wisconsin, the luncheon was attended by more than 75 Capitol Regents, Regents and other NFRW leaders, including several members of the Executive Committee.

A plate signed by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and donated to the NFRW by Paulette Simpson, president of the Alaska Federation, was auctioned for $2,500 during the luncheon. The plate was purchased by Borah Van Dormolen, former President of the Texas Federation.  A special thank you to Borah for her kind contribution.

The money will go to the NFRW Building Fund and will help offset current renovations to the national headquarters.
Introductory Membership Initiative
(IMI)

Through the Introductory Membership Initiative (IMI), the NFRW is offering introductory memberships for first-time members during the months of September, October, November and December at no cost. IMI members will have access to the NFRW web sites resources and will be able to participate at the local and state levels for the remainder of 2008. IMI members will be signed up by their local club as regular members starting in January 2009. "This is an opportunity for the NFRW to be bold and visionary by implementing cutting edge strategies to ensure continued growth," Pearson said. IMI members will be tracked and accounted for by the states and clubs. For more information, contact NFRW Membership Director Frederika ver Hulst at membership@nfrw.org.
